Development Status Of Control Transformer

Control transformer is an important equipment in power system, its safety and stability directly affect the operation of the whole power system.

The scope of application of transformers is very wide, there are many types, can be roughly divided into power transformers, rectifier transformers, voltage regulators, oil-immersed distribution transformers, dry transformers, box transformers and other types.

So far, the control transformer has been greatly improved and perfected in design and technology. However, compared with the developed most products still stay at the level of the early 1990s, compared with the developed, there is still a big gap. In the 1970s, the mainland’s control transformers generally relied on imports, and large transformer manufacturers tried to gain experience by dismantling imported equipment to seek breakthroughs, and strive to independently develop a new type of control transformer to reduce production costs.

However, because the production process can not meet the production needs, the control transformer still relies on imports. Aware of this problem, we actively combined the relevant departments to form a R & D design team, conducted in-depth research on the design and production process of the control transformer, successfully developed the amorphous alloy core material and produced a control transformer with a capacity of 160~500 kVA in 1994, to meet the practical requirements.

However, further improvement is needed for mass production. In 1998, amorphous alloy core materials were further improved, and through the introduction of advanced technology from well-known multinational enterprises, this material was applied to epoxy resin dry-type transformers, and put into mass production into power grid operation.

In the late 1990s, the mainland’s control transformer technology has been significantly improved, the large-scale introduction of foreign advanced technology, so that the development of new products. After a long time of digestion and absorption, special production lines and manufacturing equipment were developed. Make the basic parameters of the production control transformer reach or close to the developed level. It has played a role in promoting the scientific and technological content, added value of products, product quality and production efficiency of the control transformers in the mainland.

After several generations of unremitting efforts, the mainland’s control transformers have gone through the process of overcoming difficulties, introducing and absorbing, independent innovation, and upgrading. By mastering the core technology, the product quality is improved, the production cycle is shortened, and the control transformer industry has been improved to a greater extent.
